Process for the manufacture of a substitute material of the leather according to which two structures of different composition are made, joined together forming a single body, the organization of the first structure of composition comprises the phase of depositing on a surface of a support sheet, of suitable material, previously coated with a thermoplastic polyurethane resin film, an expandable urethane composition, passing this sheet thus coated with the urethane composition in an oven and at a temperature comprised between 110ºC to 170º c, for a sufficient period of time, until an expansion and partial cross-linking of the urethane composition is achieved, while the embodiment of the second composition structure comprises the step of impregnating a layer of non-woven fibers, with natural or synthetic rubber latex, and of attaching this layer to a fabric of fiber mesh, of polyamide by means of an adhesive composition polyurethane, to pass this layer, attached, through a continuous vulcanizadora for a period of time necessary to obtain the consolidation of the rubber and the formation of polyurethane, the composite structure thus obtained is attached to the first composite structure, so that the surface constituted of this mesh fabric is in contact with the surface constituted by the expanded and partially cross-linked urethane composition and the resulting assembly is introduced to an oven at a temperature comprised between 110ºC and 170ºC for a period of time necessary to complete the cross-linking of the expanded urethane composition; the resulting composite article is separated from the support sheet.
