Abstract

Procedure for sealing anodized aluminum surfaces, characterized by comprising contacting said anodized surfaces with an aqueous solution containing approximately 2-16 g/l of a composition consisting of 35-60% by weight of nickel acetate, acetate cobalt or mixtures thereof, approximately 35-60% by weight, of the ammonium salt of naphthalenesulfonic acid, approximately 0.03-0.3% by weight, of sodium lauryl sulfate, 0.1-1.0% by weight, approximately, of the condensation product of one mole of octylphenol with approximately 12-13 mol of ethylene oxide and approximately 0.5-4.0% by weight of malic acid; said solution having a temperature of 85ºC at the boiling point of the solution and a pH of the order of 5.2 to 5.8; and maintain contact between the aluminum surfaces and the solution for approximately 3-20 minutes.
