Abstract

Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent no. 354,558 by "a procedure for elaborating an explosive", in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion, whose improvements consist of: (a) on the one hand, heating to a temperature of the order of 120ºf (49º c) a mixture formed by a water insoluble inorganic fuel that forms a continuous oil phase in the explosive agent and a lipophilic emulsifier for said fuel capable of forming and maintaining a stable emulsion of water in oil and introducing it in a turbine mixer; (b) on the other hand, heating to a temperature of the order of 140º f (60º c) a mixture formed by an inorganic oxidizing salt, a salt of a nitrogenous base of an inorganic oxidizing acid and a base selected from the group consisting of (1) acyclic nitrogenous bases not containing more than two hydrogen atoms attached to the basic nitrogen and containing up to three carbon atoms per basic nitrogen and (2) phenylamines, and water and also adding it to the mixer; (c) stirring to intimately mix the composition and form a water-in-oil emulsion in which the oil is the continuous phase; and (d) incorporating said explosive from 5 to 50% by volume of gas bubbles.
