Abstract
An arrangement for automatic load control in naval engines having adjustable pitch propellers where upon exceeding the load of a preset limit value a signal is output to adjust the pitch of the propeller blades comprising an operable function generator to convert an input signal in the form of alternating current electrical voltage from a motor speed generator into a function that approximates a given load curve, the output signal from the function generator providing a measure of allowable adjustments for the fuel pump, settings of a signal selector, an adder in which respective signals from the function generator can be compared, and the signal selector four comparators connected to the output of the adder and an operable pulse generator to convert into a pulse train one or the other of the signals coming from the comparators which can be transmitted or to one or the other of two relays respectively associated to each of the two comparators whereby an activated relay can close in relation to time with frequency so that it switches a predicted operating voltage to operate a step adjustment servo mechanism, and the other two comparators being arranged so that a continuous control voltage will drive said servo when there is a large overload or low load.
