Abstract
Improvements made to the subject of main patent no. 367,460, issued on May 3, 1971 by a process to produce materials or compounds of sodium, aluminum and silicon oxides, which are useful as fillers in paper, paints, rubber reinforcement, etc., where sodium silicate and aluminum sulfate are reacted in an aqueous medium after which the protruding precipitate is washed, filtered, dried and collected in a relatively dry, finely divided state, characterized by comprising supplying sodium sulfate to said reaction during its course in an amount equal to the weight of at least, based on the weight of said silicate, at least about 0.1 of which sulfate is provided in said aqueous reaction medium from the beginning of the reaction, said sulfate being supplied of aluminum to the reaction zone as a substantially constant separate stream over a period of time of at least 10 seconds or more in excess over the t Normal time of the batch process, supplied by separate conduits said aluminum sulfate and said sodium silicate to the reaction medium.
