Abstract
A process for the preparation of a spray-dried detergent composition, comprising from 5 to 25% by weight of a nonionic detergent surfactant, from 40 to 95% by weight of atomizable detergent builder salts, and from 0.01% to 10 % by weight of a reactive emulsifying polymer selected from the group consisting of linear or crosslinked copolymers of ethylene with maleic anhydride, copolymers of polyvinylmethyl ether with maleic anhydride, and polyacrylic acid, with a molecular weight of between 103 and 107 and 0.01% to 10% by weight of a non-reactive polymer selected from the group consisting of polyacrylamides, polyacrylates, polymethacrylates and modified starch compounds, with a molecular weight of between 104 and 107, characterized in that the procedure consists of forming an aqueous suspension of the agent nonionic detergent surfactant, builder salts, detergents, and the reactive and non-reactive polymers, the said p being added olimers simultaneously with the nonionic detergent surfactant or after addition to the aqueous suspension and then spray drying the resulting suspension in a conventional manner to form the particulate detergent composition.
