Improvements in systems for transmitting to a central station indications of the existence of alarm states in any of a plurality of peripheral stations characterized in that said systems comprise in combination means for deriving a signal in response to the appearance of any of said conditions and states ; data frame generating means responsive to said signal to generate a predetermined plurality of substantially identical, sequential, repetitive data frames, whose frame generating means comprise data channel producing means for producing a plurality of repetitive data channels each one of which has the duration of a discrete multiple of a predetermined unit time period, said data channels being respectively indicative of the identity of said peripheral station and the state therein; the frame generating means comprising means for providing a distinguishable timing signal characteristic of the first channel of each frame to distinguish it from the other channels of each frame, and means for transmitting said predetermined plurality of data frames to the central station, so that insuring means is provided that the last of the plurality of frames ends in the characteristic distinguishable timing signal and the first of each of the channels begins with the characteristic distinguishable timing signal.
