Abstract
Procedure for obtaining high molecular weight aromatic copolyamides, composed of 1-9.5 mol% of structural units containing 2,4- (lH, 3H) -quinazolinedione ring systems of the general formula ** (See formula) ** wherein R is hydrogen or a C1 to C4 alkyl moiety, X is a divalent aromatic moiety which is composed of one or more condensed rings or several aromatic rings, which have been linked together by single bonds or by such bridging members or as -O-, -S-, -SO2-, (see formula), (see formula), or -HN-SO2, as well as their substitution products of halogen, C1- to C4-alkyl, NO2- or CN-, R'means R, cycloalkyl or a phenyl radical, if substituted, and Ar means a divalent aromatic rheate consisting of one or more condensed rings or several aromatic rings that are linked by single bonds or by bridge members such as -O-, -S-, -SO2-, (see formula), or (see formula), as well as its substitution products of halogen, C1 to C4 alkyl, NO2- or CN- and in 99 - 90.5 mol% of structural units of general formula -HN-Ar'-NH-OC-Ar-CO- where Ar has the meaning indicated above and Ar'has the meaning indicated for X, the co-polyamides showing a relative viscosity in solution η rel (measured in a 0.5% solution of the co-polyamides in sulfuric acid concentrate at 25 °) from 1.2 - 2.5; by polycondensation of aromatic diamines with dicarboxylic acid halides in polar organic solvents, characterized in that aromatic dicarboxylic acid halides of the general formula Hal-OC-Ar-CO-Hal III where Hal means Cl or Br and Ar has the meaning defined in claim 1, they are polycondensed with 1-9.5 mol% of 2,4- (1H, 3H) -quinazolindiamines of general formula ** (See formula) ** where R and X have the meaning indicated above and 90.5-99 moles%, in each case referred to the total amount of diamine, of aromatic diamines of general formula H2N-Ar'-NH2 V in which Ar'has the meaning indicated above, in polar organic solvents, at temperatures between -30 and + 150ºC.
