Abstract
Method and apparatus for the production of pile fabric, in which method a preformed basic member and an adhesive layer supported thereon are passed to a tuft attachment station extending transversely to the direction of advancement of the basic member, is carried a row of tuft-forming pile thread segments to said fastening station from a supply source having yarn ends in one row, a first part of each tuft-forming segment is pressed into the adhesive layer to fix said part the basic member and the latter with the aforementioned row of tuft-forming segments adhered to it is removed from the fixing station, characterized in that the adhesive has a composition such that its viscosity decreases when heated and is found in the fixing station in a sticky enough condition to adhere the pressed thread to the adhesive, and because the temperature of the adhesive ensuring ura the tuft-forming segments to the basic member is temporarily raised after the basic member with said row of tuft-forming segments adhered to it has been removed from the fixing station, thus temporarily reducing the viscosity of the adhesive.
