Abstract
A method of manufacturing a flat cable in which several insulated conductors and juxtaposed very close to each other are joined to form a flat cable, characterized in that a tube of thin-walled thermoplastic material is extruded with the help of an extruder around several insulated, coplanar and juxtaposed conductors that are passed through openings made in the extruder nozzle mandrel, after which the tube is arranged by hot contraction on the insulated conductors applying a pressure lower than atmospheric pressure between the mandrel and the tube being formed, the assembly being subsequently passed through a profiled roller whereby the hot-shrink tube on the insulated conductors is deformed until the full thickness of the connecting parts formed from the tube between the insulated conductors the thickness of the layer formed from the tube on the conductors is less than once isolated.
