Abstract

Improvements introduced in the procedure for the preparation of steel parts with a view to cold forming without chip removal, in which the degreased parts to be formed are successively subjected to the following treatment phases: a) pickling in a mineral acid, mainly sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid; b) rinse with water; c) pre-rinse in an aqueous suspension with 0.1 to 8 g/l of secondary and/or tertiary manganese phosphate, optionally with the addition of 0.1 to 5 g/l of one or more condensed alkali metal phosphate ; d) phosphated by an aqueous solution of manganese phosphate or manganese-iron; e) rinse with water; f) if necessary, rinse in a weakly alkaline aqueous solution; g) soaping in an aqueous soap-type lubricant containing one or more alkali metal or amine soaps dissolved together with a poorly soluble, dispersed metal soap; and h) drying the soap film; characterized in that the pieces are treated as follows instead of the phases f), g) and h) previously mentioned: f') drying, for example, by rinsing in hot water and vaporization of the water film with the proper heat of the pieces or leaving them in an air circulation oven; g') immersion in a molten organic mass having as its main constituent a fatty acid or a mixture of fatty acids and having a melting temperature of a minimum of 25ºC, preferably higher than 35ºC; and h') solidification of a thin film of the molten organic mass on the surface of the part.
