A photo emitting diode assembly comprising a photo emitting diode mounted on a base and having a first and a second conductor connected to a front face, emitting photo, of the diode, and to a rear face, respectively, and a lens system mounted at the base, next to the front face, characterized in that the base is a sheet of insulating, transparent material, on which the first conductor is formed and the emitting face of the diode is mounted directly on the conductor which is narrow relative to the front face, the lens being on the side of the sheet away from the diode.
