Abstract
Procedure for obtaining homopolymers or copolymers of derivatives of norbonene monomers, corresponding to formula (I): ** (See formula) ** in which X and Y, the same or different, mean the remains: ** (See formula) ** and R1, R2, R3 and R4, independent of each other, mean an alkyl residue with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, characterized in that the monomer is polymerized in an inert organic solvent at a temperature of -50 to + 50ºC in the presence of a catalyst comprising: (A) a tungsten halide or oxyhalide, (B) an alcohol or halogen alcohol, (C) an organometallic compound of aluminum, and (D) boron trifluoride or boron trifluoride etherate.
