Abstract
A procedure for effecting crystallization of dimethyl terephthalate from a solution thereof in methanol at a temperature substantially higher than the boiling point of said solution at atmospheric pressure by cooling said solution, comprising a crystallizer mass, with a circulation stream to and from it, a feed stream of said solution, which is attached to said circulation stream, said feed stream being at a temperature substantially higher than the temperature of said circulation stream, and a stream discharge from one of said mass and said circulation stream, whose procedure includes improving to a minimum the excessive formation of fine crystals and in which the hydrostatic pressure of said circulation stream at the point where it joins it said supply current is established and maintained at least equal to the difference between the pressure vapor pressure of methanol in said feed stream and the vapor pressure of methanol in said circulation stream reaching said point.
