Improved meter and flow indicator device for use during milking, comprising wall-shaped means defining a chamber having an open top, an open top closure, an inlet tube leading into the interior of the chamber and ready to be connected to a milk feed from a milking machine system, an outlet leading from the chamber with a collar mounted around the inlet pipe cooperable with the inner surface of the wall-shaped means to provide an annular space between them, milk distributing means located inside the chamber and capable of spreading the milk discharged by the inlet tube in a flow directed uniformly downwards through said annular space, said distributing means including a concave surface on the lower surface of the closure, said concave surface having a central protuberance and extu downwardly projecting directly on the inlet tube, said protuberance of conical formation being inverted and concave forming thereby constituting an extension of the lower concave surface of the closure, a measuring cup, a discharge tube leading from the chamber to the measuring cup, an inlet for the discharge tube, and a measuring cup disposed around the inlet, the entry area for the measuring cup being of predetermined relation to the area of the annular space so as to pass a selected amount of milk through from the measuring cup and the discharge tube to the measuring cup in order to measure the weight of the milk contained in the measuring cup with the help of a graduated scale.
