Abstract
Process for purifying crude cyanuric acid, characterized in that it comprises mixing sufficient quantities of crude cyanuric acid with an aqueous solution of phosphoric acid containing about 10 to 85% phosphoric acid, based on the weight of phosphoric acid present in the slurry of resulting cyanuric acid, to form a 10-45% slurry of crude cyanuric acid; heating the slurry to a temperature of about 180 to 220º c, under at least the autogenously developed pressure, to digest the crude cyanuric acid; cool the digested cyanuric acid, to precipitate crystals of cyanuric acid; and recover crystals of cyanuric acid.
