Abstract

Improvements in the production of alumina-based bodies, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: (a) subjecting hydrargilite or alumina gel to partial dehydration in a hot gas stream; (b) agglomerate the obtained product, partially dehydrated, obtaining a product in the form of balls or pellets; (c) treating the product obtained in an autoclave, in a neutral or acidic medium; (d) adding, before or after autoclaving, the oxide precursors in proportions of 1 to 15% by weight, selected from the group consisting of lanthanium, neodymium, praseodymium and thorium oxides; and (e) calcining the product obtained from the previous step at a temperature of approximately 1200ºC.
