Abstract

Improvements made to a process to produce a shiny iron-nickel alloy electroplate characterized by the passage of a current through an acidic aqueous bath suitable for electroplating a shiny iron-nickel coating on a corrosion susceptible substrate, comprising iron ions and nickel ions, the ratio of nickel ions to iron ions being between about 5 and about 50 to 1, a primary nickel brightener, soluble in the bath, of a sulfo-oxygenated compound, a non-reducing complexing agent soluble in the bath, and a reaction product of a polyamine and an alkylating or sulphonating agent and the electrodeposition of an iron-nickel alloy on a cathodic surface.
