Abstract
Improvements in devices to measure the boron concentration of solutions, in particular borated light water from the primary cooling circuit of a light water reactor, comprising an isotopic neutron source and a thermal neutron detector both submerged in the borated solution contained in an enclosure, the enclosure being coupled by two inlet and outlet conduits to the borated light water circuit, characterized in that the isotopic neutron source and the thermal neutron detector are located close to each other and in the center of said enclosure, and because this enclosure is surrounded by another enclosure containing a neutron reflecting medium, the device being such that the thermal neutron detector is located near the points where the thermal neutron flux is greatest.
