Abstract
Smectite is separately dispersed in water by stirring, in order to produce a suspension whose viscosity is not less than that of a suspension which has been prepared from the same smectite and water by stirring at 15 DEG C with an energy supply of 0.04 Joule/g/sec until a maximum viscosity is reached. The suspension is then mixed with constituents which contain film-forming binder, inorganic filler and, if desired, a particulate fuel. The resulting suspension mixture is processed into a form from which a tobacco-like material can be obtained.
