Abstract
Procedure for the preparation of N-alkylated aromatic amines, of formula: **(See formula)** where R1 is C3 and C6 cycloalkyl, C3-C8 secondary alkyl optionally monosubstituted with a halogen or a C1-C4 alkoxy group; R2 represents hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkyl, and monosubstituted C1-C4 alkyl where the substituent is halogen or C1-C4 alkoxy; and where R3 represents hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, methylsulfonyl or halogen, characterized in that it comprises reacting an aromatic amine of formula: **(See formula)** where R2 and R3 are as defined above, with hydrogen, a noble metal catalyst and an acetone, and an acidic promoter having a pKa value between 0.3 and 2.0, this being preferably an aromatic sulfonic acid.
