Perfections introduced in a heat engine comprising: a housing having interior surfaces defining a chamber for containing a heat-expandable material; electrically excitable heating means for heating the heat-expandable material; a piston mounted for reciprocating movement in said housing; said piston having a working stroke which, if exceeded in response to the excitation of said heating means and the expansion of the heat-expanding material, could remove the plunger from the housing; sealing means in the application of a fluid-tight seal with said plunger to prevent the heat-expanding material from leaving said chamber; characterized in that said plunger has a first part provided with an outer envelope dimension established by a diameter of a predetermined magnitude through the main part of its axial extension, said part being capable of extending inside said chamber; and a second part extending outside said housing for application to a work piece, the parts being structured so that a pressure sufficient to communicate movement to the upper piston at the distance represented by the working stroke, will render the means inoperative.
