Abstract
Un procedimiento para la reducción, por cargas de material, de un óxido metálico en metal esponjoso, mediante contacto con un gas reductor caliente, en un sistema reactor de unidades múltiples, del tipo en el que se tratan simultáneamente cuerpos fijos separados de material que posee metal, en una pluralidad de reactores, que incluye por los menos un reactor enfriador y, por lo menos, un reactor de reducción, haciéndose pasar gas reductor frío contentivo de carbono por un reactor enfriador de dicho sistema, calentándose el mismo a una temperatura de 950 a 1100ºC, y haciéndose pasar dicho gas reductor por un reactor de reducción del indicado sistema, procedimiento caracterizado porque se calienta previamente una corriente del gas reductor frío a una temperatura de 250 a 800ºC, se hace pasar dicha corriente caliente de gas reductor a través del indicado lecho de material contentivo de metal de dicho reactor enfriador durante un primer período de tiempo para carburar el metal del mismo y reducir el óxido metálico allí presente, pasándose después una corriente de dicho gas reductor frío y no previamente calentado a través del indicado lecho de material contentivo de metal de referido reactor enfriador durante un segundo período de tiempo para completar el enfriamiento de dicho material.
