Abstract
Method for treating a gaseous stream containing C2-C4 hydrocarbon, said halogenated hydrocarbon being chosen from the group consisting of chlorinated and brominated hydrocarbons, which comprises contacting the halogenated hydrocarbon with an oxidizing amount of an oxygen-containing gas, in the presence of a Cobalt oxide catalyst, at temperatures between 20ºC and 500ºC, for a time sufficient to reduce the content of halogenated hydrocarbon in the gas stream, said temperature being such that it inhibits the loss, induced by water, gives the activity of the catalyst.
