Abstract

A dye for e.g. screen dyeing is produced by forming a base soln. in a first mixer and a colourant in a second mixer. The base solution may contain adhesives (e.g. acrylic resin, butadiene resin) a surfactant a fixer (e.g. melamine-formaldehyde) ammonia anti-foaming agent (e.g. silicone based) etc. but contains as colourant. The two mixers are connected together so that measured quantities of base liquid and colourant can be fed e.g. a dosing pump to e.g. a final mixer to form a final dye paste. Different colour dye pastes can be automatically mixed up without manual intervention. The dosing pumps may be controlled by a programmed process control machine.
