Abstract

The supply circuit, for a fluorescent lamp, consists of a static inverter connected between the DC supply and the lamp. The converter contains a transformer whose primary is switched by two transistors to and from the DC supply and whose secondary is connected via a ballast resistor in series with the lamps. The voltages across the primary and secondary windings have a rectangular waveform. The two switching transistors are connected between the ends of the primary and one DC pole. The primary's centre tapping is connected to the other pole. The transistors are switched by a resonant RLC circuit containing a second secondary winding.
