Abstract

The coupling has two coupling parts (59, 61), which rotate about a common axis (64). The coupling parts have round flanges (62, 63) which rest against one another. The two coupling parts (59, 61) are connected to one another for drive purposes by elements with a predetermined breaking point in the form of shear pins (60). A shear pin (60) passes through a hole (60B) in the first flange (63) and projects into a recess (68) in the second flange (62). The other end of the shear pins projects into a sleeve-like holder (65) which contains a preloaded helical spring (67) which presses on the shear pin (60). A sheared-off part of a shear pin is thrown out through a radial channel (69). When the speed of rotation falls, the spring (67) presses the shortened shear pin (60) back into the recess (68). The coupling is particularly suitable for installation in the power take-off of an agricultural machine towed and driven by a tractor. After the shear pin has been sheared off due to an overload, the coupling returns automatically to a state of readiness for operation.
