Abstract
Un procedimiento de recuperación de potasio del residuo sólido que contiene potasio resultante de la conversión del mineral de manganeso en K2MnO4 por reacción del mineral con KOH y O2, cuyo procedimiento consiste en: (a) hacer reaccionar una suspensión acuosa de dicho residuo sólido con Ca(OH)2 disuelto, en presencia de Ca(OH)2 sin disolver, utilizándose de 2 a 5 moles de calcio total por mol de potasio en dicho residuo sólido, siendo contabilizado como potasio cualquier sodio presente en dicho residuo al determinar los moles de calcio a utilizar; (b) proseguir la reacción hasta que por lo menos el 50 % del potasio del residuo sólido se ha solubilizado como KOH, al mismo tiempo que se limita a la concentración de dicho KOH a menos de 50 g de KOH por litro de agua y (c) separar la solución resultante de KOH del sólido que ha reaccionado.
