Abstract

In this method, treating substances are conveyed in water, for example CCA salts or a sodium chlorophenate, and are forcibly introduced into the wood by pressurised impregnation methods. The treating solution is kept inside the wood until the treating substances have been fixed in the wood by precipitation or chemical deposit. A significant rejection of worn-out treating liquid is obtained at the end of the method by reducing the pressure inside the pressurised treatment container to a value equal to, and preferably less than the pressure which prevailed in the wood immediately before impregnation. The speed and efficiency of the method are materially increased at a high temperature and it is often advantageous to heat the wood, for example by heating the treating liquid or else by evacuating the treating liquid from the container and by using steam or a second treating liquid for heating the wood. In any case, care must be taken to maintain sufficient pressure inside the treating container to prevent a premature rejection of the treating liquid before the substances have been deposited in the wood.
