Abstract
Una fibra óptica de vidrio con resistencia a la tracción mejorada la cual comprende: un material de cristal de núcleo que tiene un primer índice de refracción; un material de recubrimiento de cristal dispuesto sobre la superficie del material del núcleo y que tiene un segundo índice de refracción que es más bajo que el primer índice de refracción y un primer coeficiente de dilatación térmica; una capa de material sobre la superficie exterior de la capa de recubrimiento y la cual tiene un segundo coeficiente de dilatación térmica que difiere del primer coeficiente de dilatación térmica siendo causa de una diferencia en la expansión térmica entre la capa de recubrimiento y la capa exterior.
