Abstract
In a hydrocarbon conversion process (such as reforming) in which regenerated catalyst 2 is passed in sequence through a series of at least three beds I-IV, (a) the admixed vaporous charge stock and hydrogen feed is divided into a portion 9 which is introduced into the first bed I and a portion 10 which is introduced into the second bed II and the effluents 12 and 14 from these two beds are combined, heated, and introduced into the third bed III, and (b) the flow of effluent 12 from.the first bed is restricted at 13 to increase the density of the vapours (thereby reducing their volume and reducing lodgement of catalyst in the bed I) whilst the amount of the feed passing into the second bed is controlled by a restriction 11.
