Abstract
Un método para hacer variar la tensión en una lámpara de descarga en mercurio, de elevada intensidad, que comprende las siguientes etapas: (a) excitar la lámpara a una corriente sustancialmente fija; (b) seleccionar un voltaje previamente determinado; (c) percibir el voltaje de la lámpara; y (d) cuando el voltaje de la lámpara sube por encima del voltaje previamente determinado, dirigir un flujo pulsante de gas, el cual gas está a una temperatura suficiente para condensar el mercurio, hacia la superficie exterior de la lámpara entre sus electrodos con una velocidad de pulsación y una duración de impulsos suficientes para alcanzar y mantener aproximadamente el voltaje previamente determinado.
