Abstract
An electrically ignited gas lighter for cigarettes comprises an ignition mechanism sited above a gas reservoir, with valve-actuating means for supplying gas to a burner, a battery- operated electrical circuit to cause a spark to flash level with the said burner, and means for activating the electrical circuit which are unconnected with the valve-actuating means so that the user has to carry out two simultaneous actions to effect ignition, the electrical activating means activating a first switch and the valve-actuating means actuating a second, series-connected, switch 13, 14, the electrical activating means comprising a push-button 22 in the form of a detachable container in which the battery (23), Figure 2 (not shown), is inserted and which is equipped with two terminals (20) in contact with the battery poles, these terminals being able to approach or move away from two fixed terminals (25) on the mechanism which are connected to the electrical circuit, there being elastic means 24 which normally tend to move the push-button away from the mechanism.
