Abstract

An absorption end plate as an element of a gas purifying device, said device having inlet and outlet openings for a gas to be purified and/or a washing liquid, and having means for cooling the washing liquid and a liquid baffle plate, in which in the region of the surface of the washing liquid (7) and parallel thereto, a gas baffle plate (4) is provided for setting a flow directed substantially parallel to the surface of the washing liquid (7) in which for introducing the gas (6) into the washing liquid (7) at least one feeding position (3) with holes (5) is provided below the gas baffle plate (4) and for discharging the gas (6) at least one outlet position (8) is provided remote from the feeding position formed in the baffle plate (4) in which the ratio of the horizontal gas flow path located in the washing liquid (7) between the feeding position (3) and outlet position (8) of the gas (6) to the spacing between adjacent absorption end plates is as large as possible and in which at least one liquid baffle plate (14) conducts the liquid flow induced by the gas flow and separates mutually opposed liquid flows. A cooling device 13 is also provided.
