Abstract
Un procedimiento de generación continua de halógeno e hidróxidos de metales alcalinos por electrólisis de una solución acuosa de un haluro de metal alcalino, que contiene por lo menos 150 g de haluro por litro de solución, mediante una pareja de electrodos catalíticos separados por una membrana permeable a los iones, caracterizado por realizar la electrólisis con electrodos constituidos por una multiplicidad de partículas de óxidos reducidos y térmicamente estabilizados de metales del grupo del platino, adheridos a las caras catódica y/o anódica de la membrana e incrustados en las misma para formar una unidad membrana- electrodo que está en contacto con un distribuidor de corriente, haciendo pasar la solución del haluro de metal alcalino por la cámara anódica y un medio acuoso por la cámara catódica y retirando continuamente el halógeno del compartimiento anódico y el hidróxido de metal alcalino del compartimiento catódico.A process for the continuous generation of halogen and alkali metal hydroxides by electrolysis of an aqueous solution of an alkali metal halide, containing at least 150 g of halide per liter of solution, by means of a pair of catalytic electrodes separated by a permeable membrane to the ions, characterized by electrolysis with electrodes made up of a multiplicity of particles of reduced and thermally stabilized oxides of platinum group metals, adhered to the cathodic and / or anodic faces of the membrane and embedded in them to form a membrane unit-electrode that is in contact with a current distributor, passing the alkali metal halide solution through the anode chamber and an aqueous medium through the cathode chamber and continuously withdrawing the halogen from the anode compartment and the alkali metal hydroxide from the cathodic compartment.
