Abstract

Un procedimiento para acondicionar agua purificada y desmineralizada que contiene CO2 libre y un pH de aproximadamente 6 o menos para eliminar CO2 y aumentar su pH, que comprende las etapas de alimentar primero el agua purificada a una baja presión a través de una boquilla de pulverización de gran ángulo y contra un colector cónico de gran superficie de modo que el agua forme una película y se desprenda la mayor parte del CO2 libre a la atmósfera, en segundo lugar, alimentar el agua al fondo de un lecho de virutas de caliza que es suficientemente largo para permitir que el agua permanezca en contacto con dicho lecho durante al menos dos minutos, haciendo reaccionar dicha agua con dicha caliza para convertir sustancialmente todo el CO2 restante en bicarbonato de calcio soluble y aumentar el pH del agua hasta un valor de aproximadamente 8.
