Abstract

Procedimiento para la preparación de 4-metil-5-hidroximetil-imidazol, por reacción de 4-metil-imidazol con formaldehido, caracterizado porque la reacción (a) se lleva a cabo en un medio alcalino en un margen de pH de 11-13 preferiblemente de 12-13 y (b) a una temperatura relativamente vaja de aproximadamente 20-60ºC , preferiblemente de 30-40ºC y para ello © no se emplean ningún exceso, o solo un pequeño exceso de como máximo 0,5 moles, de formaldehido por cada mol de 4-metil-imidazol empleado.
