Abstract
An oxygen dispenser for the enrichment of oxygen in water comprises a shaped mixt. of potassion peroxomonosulphate, sodium perborate and sodium carbonate opt. together with a binder, the whole mixt. being partially or completely surrounded by a plastic foil. The container may also be of glass. On contact with water, the dispenser gives off molecular oxygen in the form of fine bubbles. The dispenser can be used to aerate water in fish tanks and ponds, where unlike conventional aeraters, it will enrich the water in the bottom of the tank and round the edges, rather than just the surface and central water. The dispenser can also be used in bath water for cosmetic or medicinal purposes. Oxygen baths promote the circulation of blood and stimulate metabolism. The simultaneously formed sodium borate acts as a water softener. Compared to pressed tablets, the dispenser can be kept longer, also it will not decompose due to air or dampness.
