Abstract
New isoquinoline derivatives of the general formula < IMAGE > wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyalkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, the imidazolin-2-ylamino group is attached to the 4-, 5-, 6-, 7- or 8- position of the isoquinoline nucleus, and the symbols R2 and R3, which have the same or different significances, are attached to carbon atoms in the remaining positions of the isoquinoline nucleus and each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxyalkyl group in which the alkyl and alkoxy moieties each contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms an alkylthio radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a dialkylamino group in which each alkyl radical contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, are useful as anti-hypertensive agents.
