Abstract
Los llamados colorantes reactivos forman un enlace covalente con el sustrato cuando se aplican bajo condiciones alcalina. En general, estos colorantes están asociados con una solidez extremadamente buena con respecto al lavado. La temperatura a la cual un colorante reactivo se fija a un sustrato, se controla por la reactividad del grupo reactivo presente. En ciertos casos, la fijación se puede conseguir a bajas temperaturas, por ejemplo desde la temperatura ambiente a 40ºC, proporcionando así la ventaja de un procesado simple y barato. Sin embargo, algunos colorantes de fijación a baja temperatura, que contienen cromóforos azo, muestran la desventaja de formar colorante suelto cuando se someten a condiciones ácidas húmedas. Este efecto es conocido como "exudación ácida" y se puede manifestar por sí misma por una pérdida de color y por el manchado de materiales adyacentes.
