Abstract
Procedimiento para la obtención a gran escala de óxido de magnesio de alta pureza a partir de sustancias de partida impurificadas, que contienen magnesio, en el que estas sustancias de partida son disueltas primeramente en ácido clorhídrico y a partir de esta salmuera de cloruro de magnesio, obtenida de esta manera, después de un tratamiento previo de varias etapas de la misma, en el curso del cual se efectúan una purificación y un aumento de concentración, mediante descomposición térmica se forma óxido de magnesio puro, siendo separadas en el curso de esta purificación, por una parte, impurezas, a saber sobre todo compuestos de hierro, en forma de óxido-hidratos y en tal caso también se efectúa una separación de ácido silícico y, por otra parte, con previa adición de material que proporciona iones sulfato a la salmuera, se separa a partir de ésta calcio en forma de su sulfato, y eventualmente son añadidas a la salmuera sustancias que contienen magnesio y/o calcio para desplazar el valor depH a un margen que hace posible o favorece la separación de óxido-hidratos, y siendo llevada la salmuera, para el aumento de la concentración, a contacto íntimo con los gases de escape del horno de descomposición, caracterizado porque la salmuera o masa turbia de cloruro de magnesio, obtenida en la disgregación de las sustancias de partida con ácido clorhídrico, primeramente es concentrada, y por que sólo después de ello se efectúa la precipitación y separación de las impurezas en forma de óxido-hidratos y sulfato de calcio.
