Abstract

Large sacks are successively attached to a filling funnel comprising a hopper 1, an inner pouring tube 2, a displaceable outer tube 5, filling funnel segments 6 pivoted to the outer tube 5 at 8, and pivoted clamping bars 16 adapted to be closed against the segments to clamp the mouth of a sack 17 thereto. For filling the sack, the segments 6 are swung apart to a position 6.1 with the clamping bars 16 closed so that the mouth of the sack becomes spread. During filling, the tube 5 and its attachments are lowerable against the force of counterweights 26 which ensure that the walls of the sack are held taut.
