Un procedimiento para tratar masas fundidas de hierro y para aumentar la parte proporcional de chatarra en un convertidor por medio de insuflado de un gas de tratamiento oxigenado y adición de carburo de calcio, caracterizado porque se sopla sobre la masa fundida de hierro, o se insufla en dicha masa fundida, oxígeno o un gas oxigenado, junto con carburo de calcio y, eventualmente, otras sustancias oxidables y/o sustancias formadoras de aleación y/o sustancias formadoras de escoria.
