Abstract

Procedimiento para tratar semillas de plantas, que comprende las operaciones de a) aplicar por pulverización sobre las semillas mientras están siendo volteadas en un tambor rotatorio, una solución de revestimiento, esencialmente no acuosa, que comprende de 3,5 a 22,5% en peso de adhesivo, por ejemplo cerca de café poliestireno o una mezcla de cera de café y shellac, de 67,0 a 87,0 en peso de disolvente del adhesivo, por ejemplo etanol, una mezcla de etanol con acetona o cloruro de metileno, o un hidrocarburo halogenado de 7,0 a 22, 5 en peso de fungicida de 0 a 26, 0 en peso de insecticida y de 0 a 3,0 en peso de aditivos secundarios, siendo las respectivas relaciones en peso entre disolvente y adhesivo, y entre disolvente y sólidos totales, en la solución de 3,5 a 20:1 y de 1,8 a 4,2:1 y siendo la relación de adhesivo a semilla de 1:660; b) completar el revestimiento por pulverización dentro de un periodo de tiempo de 45 a 60 segundos, c) transferir las semillas revestidas a un secador, esponiéndolas durante alrededor de 120 segundos a la acción de una corriente de aire caliente a aproximadamente 30ºC para eliminar por evaporación el disolvente, y d) retirar la semilla del secador y transportarla al puesto de envasado.
