Abstract

De acuerdo con el presente invento, son emitidas un par de órdenes secuenciales por la unidad CPU para controlar el acceso a datos de dispositivos DASD que están registrados en forma de bloques fijos. El presente invento se apoya principalmente en la forma de bloque de longitud fija para hacer la geometría del dispositivo "transparente" a una unidad CPU y su programación y para reducir transferencias de órdenes e interrupciones entre la unidad CPU y los dispositivos. La primera orden contiene información que define los límites o "extensión" del espacio de almacenamiento DASD al cual puede establecer acceso la unidad CPU. La segunda orden identifica la operación a efectuar sobre los datos contenidos en el espacio permitido definido en la primera orden y establece donde ha de tener lugar la actividad dentro del espacio permitido.
