Abstract

Procedimiento para la fabricación de fibras de vidrio soluble que contienen agua, utilizables, entre otras aplicaciones posibles, para la fabricación de fibras cortadas cortas, de velos de fabricación en húmedo, de material de filtros y como material de reforzamiento, por hilatura en seco de soluciones acuosas de vidrio soluble y transformación de las fibras de vidrio soluble, por tratamiento con ácidos o soluciones de sales, en fibras de ácido silícico, caracterizado porque se hila en seco vidrio soluble sódico para formar fibras que contienen agua, que están esencialmente exentas de compuestos de metales no alcalinos, y que tienen una proporción molar de Na2O a SiO2 desde aproximadamente 1:3 hasta 1:1,9, y para la transformación del silicato sódico en ácido silícico se tratan con soluciones acuosas de ácidos o de sales que contienen iones hidrógeno, las fibras de ácido silícico así obtenidas se lavan y secan, así como eventualmente se tratan térmicamente de modo posterior.
