Abstract

An electrical conductor, especially applicable to cables for telecommunications, comprising a metal conductor 10 with a layer 11 of composite dielectric-magnetic material thereon, to give a continuous inductive loading of the conductor. The magnetic material can be ferrite, carbonyl iron, iron powder or permalloy and the dielectric also can be nylon, epoxy resin, varnish or copoly ethylene-vinyl acetate. A cable telecommunications will be composed of a plurality of pairs of conductors, each conductor having a metal core and the composite material layer. A polyethylene layer 12 is usually formed over the composite layer. The composite layer can be formed, for example, by extrusion (Fig 3 not shown) or electro-static coating.
