Abstract
Procedimiento para la fabricación de un material compuesto a base de fibras de cuero, caracterizado porque en una primera etapa, se efectúa, en una fase acuosa, una mezcla íntima de fibras de cuero, de fibras reforzadoras y de un aglutinante polímero y se produce un material compuesto húmedo bajo la forma de una lámina o de un panel a partir de la dispersión así obtenida , y después , en una segunda etapa, se seca el material húmedo a una temperatura inferior a la temperatura de degradación del cuero y al punto de reblandecimiento del aglutinante, y en una tercera etapa, se somete el material compuesto sustancialmente seco a un calentamiento y se aplica al material calentado una presión para asegurar la unión por puntos de las fibras del material por mediación de una parte del aglutinante; siendo el aglutinante un polímero termoplástico fibrilar y/o pulverulento con un punto de reblandecimiento inferior a 180ºC y elegido entre las poliolefinas, los copolímeros cristalinos de olefinas entresí, los copolímeros cristalinos de olefinas y de monómeros vinílicos, las mezclas de poliolefinas y7O de copolímeros, los policarbonatos, los polímeros acrílicos, los polímeros vinílicos y las mezclas de dichos polímeros y/o copolímros, conteniendo la mezcla íntima en fase acuosa, en peso de materia seca, X% de fibras de cuero, pudiendo estar al menos sustituida una parte por fibras celulósicas, representando la cantidad de estas últimas hasta un 40% y preferentemente un 10 a un 35% del peso total de fibras de cuero y de fibras celulósicas y % del aglutinante polímero termoplástico y z% de fibras reforzadoras con 30<=x<=80, 20<=y<=70, y 5<=z<=25, y, x+y+z=100; efectuándose el calentamiento del material compuesto sustancialmente seco a una temperatura próxima del punto de reblandecimiento del aglutinante y controlándose la presión aplicada al material a esta temperatura para conferir al material la densidad deseada.
