SE CALIENTA A EBULLICION UN CIANO DERIVADO DE FORMULA (II) EN UN MEDIO HIDROALCOHOLICO ACIDO O ALCALINO. SE TRATA LA MEZCLA CON UN AGENTE HALOGENANTE EN UN DISOLVENTE INERTE, COMO BENCENO. EL CLORURO DE ACIDO OBTENIDO SE HACE REACCIONAR CON AMINAS SECUNDARIAS, EN PRESENCIA DE UNA SAL INORGANICA ALCALINA, EN UN DISOLVENTE APOLAR, Y SE REDUCE EL PRODUCTO EN UNA MEZCLA DE HIDRURO DE LITIO Y ALUMINIO CON TRICLORURO DE ALUMINIO, O CON TETRAHIDROFURANO, A LA TEMPERATURA DE REFLUJO. SE USAN COMO INTERMEDIARIOS EN LA ELABORACION DE PRODUCTOS FARMACEUTICOS PARA EL TRATAMIENTO DE ENFERMEDADES MENTALES.
