LA REACCION SE LLEVA A CABO A LA TEMPERATURA DE EBULLICION DE LA MEZCLA REACCIONANTE Y EL EQUILIBRIO SE DESPLAZA HACIA LA FORMACION DE ISOPROPILIDENOGLICEROL ELIMINANDO EL AGUA FORMADA Y EL EXCESO DE REACTIVO POR DESTILACION A VACIO. ESTE COMPUESTO TIENE APLICACIONES EN LA INDUSTRIA FARMACEUTICA Y VETERINARIA POR SU PODER SOLUBILIZANTE.
